hi there! i’m justine
birth doula & lactation counselor
Mother, sister, friend. Lover of coffee, whole foods and knowledge. Recovering perfectionist, book worm, introverted Leo. I have a passion for supporting women and parents as you grow your family.
Here at Rise, Mama!, I provide birth and lactation support to the women and parents of Oregon’s Rogue Valley. Whether your goals pertain to pregnancy, birth, (breast)feeding or stretch way beyond that… I will walk beside you on this life changing journey.
Ready to begin?
I can’t wait to work with you!
So why “Rise, Mama!”? It all begins with the decision to welcome a child. For some, this journey begins years before conception, while for others the decision is made after a pregnancy is already established. You may be new to parenthood, you may be a seasoned pro, or you may be carrying a baby for someone who can’t. However your journey with a pregnancy begins, a shift happens. A pregnancy changes you. It provides an opportunity to grow as a person, a parent, a woman… it provides (and often requires) an opportunity to rise like a phoenix from the ashes of what was before, into what is. A part of you gets left behind, while another emerges.
Pregnancy and birth are transformative experiences. Our ability to adapt and overcome throughout this journey, is unmatched. We, as women, are uniquely equipped to rise to the challenge of motherhood. When we birth our babies, we travel to our depths and emerge anew. We rise.
get to know me
here are some facts about me…
- I am particular about my coffee. Organic French roast, brewed strong. Collagen, maple syrup and organic A2/A2 half and half. But when needs must, like at a long birth, I’ll chug it whichever way.
- I never had a doula myself. However, with my third and final birth my home birth midwife acted as my doula in the hospital and she was such an incredible support- I knew this is what I had to do.
- I was born and raised in The Netherlands. For my first 32 years I lived and loved there, got my degrees there, met and married my husband there and had my oldest two children there. We left in 2018.
- I used to teach at a trade school in The NL. Because I love learning, I decided to get a second bachelor’s degree and teach. I did it for 8 years and loved it. Now, I get to channel all of that into client education and birth classes.
